Simply Smiles is a CT-based organization that provides bright futures for children, families, and communities. It partners with populations in need to create physical and emotional environments where suffering is alleviated and from which local leaders can emerge.
Simply Smiles has two program locations: the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe Reservation in South Dakota and the Mexican state of Oaxaca. Simply Smiles has grown from the passion of one young man to improve life for a small group of orphans into a sustainable, scalable and highly effective program that has dramatically changed the future for the children of Oaxaca and the people of the Cheyenne Sioux Tribe.
Each year, hundreds of volunteers from CT and across the country travel to Oaxaca and South Dakota to work side-by-side with Simply Smiles for a week. Many volunteers come from UCC churches, but volunteers are also drawn from colleges, private schools, and community groups. Members of KCC have volunteered several times; Pastor Laura will be making her eighth trip this summer.
The work of Simply Smiles instills hope and removes obstacles, empowering indigenous peoples to chart their own course to self-determination and a brighter future. For more information go to www.simplysmiles.org.
