MISSION SUPPORT

Local

We provide assistance, through money, food donations and gifts, to the Berlin Food Bank, The Friendship Center in New Britain, our local DCF Covenant to Care for Children, the Prudence Crandall Home in New Britain, Newborn Division of Hospital of Central CT at NBGH, and local convalescent homes. We annually host a Red Cross Drive at our Church where we serve homemade soups, sandwiches and baked goods for the blood donors and workers.

Family Promise of Central Connecticut

Kensington Congregational Church is a support congregation committed to the Family Promise program. Family Promise of Central Connecticut (FPCC) is a partnership between congregations, volunteers and agencies that helps families secure affordable housing. While in the program we provide meals and safe, homelike temporary housing where families can stay together.

A nondenominational nonprofit organization, FPCC is part of a national Family Promise network with over 4,500 congregations and 170,000 volunteers.

Nation And World

Through the UCC Church World Service the Missions Committee supports One Great Hour of Sharing during the Easter season, and collect money to purchase Mothers Day blankets and Fathers day Tools of Hope. We have had a special relationship with our sister church Pan de Vida in El Salvador for more than 20 years. Money is sent annually to help with the needs of the Church and community. Our congregation fills the financial needs to send 40 children of Pan de Vida to school each year. We have also provided the Church with a new stove and supplies to begin a bread making business.
